Elementary Science Olympiad Fun Day

  • 10 Nov 2013
  • 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Children's Discovery Center

Are y'all ready to spend a few hours with little ones?

ESO Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday, November 10th at the Children's Discovery Center from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Here are the stations:

1. Super Sleuths - fingerprinting, identifying loops, whorls and arches (I think I can get a few of my Forensic Science students to do this one)

2. Chromotography - using coffee filters, pens and a spray bottle to see how colors separate

3. 3,2,1 Blast Off! - build a rocket out of card stock, paper and tape and use a stomp rocket base to fly them

4. Gummi Bear Long Jump – build a catapult out of craft sticks and rubber bands, launch their gummi bear to see if they can hit a target

5. Barge Building – build a barge out of aluminum foil then test to see how many pennies their barge can hold

6. Color Explosions - experiment with skim milk, half and half by adding liquid soap and food coloring and noticing the difference between the reaction of the colors in the two types of milk

7. Puff Mobiles - make "cars" out of Dixie cups, index card and tape then blow on the cup to see who can cross the finish line first

8. The Skin You’re In - make fake wounds and/or fake blister while learning about germs and blood coagulation.  What could be more fun than that?
