Come join us at the 5th Annual We Grow Hawaii Youth Garden Conference:

  • Date: February 29, 2020
  • Time: 8:00-12:30
  • Location: Island Pacific Academy (IPA) - 909 Haumea St, Kapolei, HI 96707
  • Featuring: 
    • Students sharing their experiences with ‘Aina (i.e. school gardens, community lo’i/loko i’a, etc)
    • Variety of Formats: Displays, Hands On Activities, or Group/Individual Presentations
    • Hands on Activities such as Close to Source Meal Prep, Seed Sharing, etc.
    • Space for learners of all ages to share their insight, practices, and reflections on the importance of ‘Aina in their learning

Background: 

  • The “We Grow Hawai’i Youth Conference” has been hosted for multiple years- as a space to grow student voice/leadership, ‘Aina Based learning opportunities and support amongst teachers/aina stewards in schools.  
  • Over the years - attendance has included 70-120 participants, from over 20+ schools statewide, and featured presentations on:
    • Aquaculture / Container Gardening 
    • La’au Lapa’au
    • Community Lo’i (Taro Patch) & Family Work
    • Kapa Making & Dyeing
    • Limu & Pahonu Restoration
